フレーズを中心にまとめてみました。

Other than~(~以外の）

than はコントラストを示します。あるポイントから「離れる」

感触をあらわします。

Do you have more samples other than those you’ve shown

us already?

今まで見せてくれたもの以外でサンプルはありますか。

rather than~(~よりもむしろ・~ではなく）

In the end, I decided to repair my old bike rather than

buy a new one.

I’d rather go naked than wear fur.

毛皮を着るよりも裸がいい。

限定語句とともに比較級を使う

This perfume isn’t any more fragrant than the one I am using now.

修飾語は前置きとなる。

強調表現　very/really / so/pretty は使わない。

比較級を使い切る

than に後続する比較対象は名詞に限らない。

It’s cheaper to eat at home than at a restaurant.

比較級＋any other~（ほかのいかなる～よりも）

more…than~（～というよりもむしろ・・・）

She is more pretty than beautiful.

彼女は美しいというよりかわいい。

no more…than（全然ちがうよ）

He is no more an artist than I am

彼は芸術家なんかではない

He is no more intelligent than me (普通の比較級）

less (より程度が低い）

She is less intelligent than me.

彼女は私ほど賢くない。

＝not as intelligent as

no less…than~ (～に劣らず）

I’,m no less confident than before.

以前よりも自信をうしなったわけではない。

no more than ~ (~にすぎない）

The earth is no more than a little star.

地球は小さな星にすぎない。

not more than ~ (~以下である）

There were not more than ten people present

(10人以下であった）

no less than~ (まさに・強調して、～も）

That is no less than a miracle!

まさにミラクルだ！

not less than~ (~以上）

He has to write a paper of not less than 400 words

彼は４００ワード以上のレポートを書かなくてはならない。

not ~ any more (=no more)（もはや～ない）

これ以上耐えられない。

none+the比較級（だからといって、少しも～というわけでない）

最上級を限定語句と使う
