比較級と最上級そしてその慣用句についてALL IN ONEからの例文で

比較級の例文と解説

比較の対象を表すThanとasは前置詞と接続詞の両方で用います。

前置詞の場合

He is taller than me

接続詞の場合

He is taller than I am

前置詞の場合

He is about as tall as me.

接続詞の場合

He is about as tall as I am.

比較級を修飾する副詞

much/far/a lot  bigger   はるかに大きい

a little / a bit　bigger ほんの少し大きい

even/still bigger  なお一層大きい

最上級の表現

K2 is the second highest mountain in the world.

It is Korea’s third largest city.

as~asを用いた表現

I did not attract as large an audience as I had expected.

期待したほどの聴衆を呼ぶことができなかった。

比較級を用いた最上級表現

No other boy in the world is nicer than Dick.

No other boy in the world is as mice as Dick.

=Dick is nicer than any other boy in the world.

Health is more important than anything else.

=Nothing is more important than health.

Nothing is as important as health.

the 比較級の構文

the elder twin of the two.

２人の双子のうち年上のほう。

They exaggerated the former and concealed the latter.

I felt none the better for it; I felt all the more miserable.

気分が晴れたわけでなく、むしろみじめな気持ちになった。

The more he talked the more bored I became.

彼が話せば話すほど、退屈になる。

比較級and比較級

People are becoming more and more health conscious.

比較構文（慣用表現）

否定分　much less でなく　はなおさらそうだ。

肯定分　much more であり　はなおさらそうだ。

A is no more B than C is D

CがDでないと同じくらいAはBでない。

A is no less B than C is D

CがDであるのと同じくらいAはBである。

It is not so much as enthusiasm as an obsession.

それは熱心というよりとりつかれていると言ったほうがいい。

A as well as B

Bと同様にAだ

may as well Vb

Vするのも悪くはない。

倍数表現

He is twice my age.

彼は私の二倍の年です。

age  size   height    weight length  number  amount rate

まとめ
