英語教材の口コミでTEDトークとプライムイングリッシュの評判が高い理由は！

自分にあった英語教材を選ぶポイントとして最も大事

なことは、その題材に対して自分が興味がもてるか

ということです。

日本の英語教育は、前から言われて

いますが、年数は勉強しても、いわゆる使える英語が

習得できていません。

その理由はなにか？それは日本の英語教育が受験対策

のための英語勉強で、内容が興味をなくす勉強方法

だったことがその理由のひとつであると思います。

これからは、本当の英語力が必要な時代であり、本当の

英語の実力をつけたいという方が増えています。

そのためには、ただ英語を勉強するのではなく、言語を

勉強するのですから、興味のある題材に出会うことが

最も重要であると考えます。

そこで、私が出会ったのがTEDのトークの英語のスピーチ

内容です。この英語は、英語を学ぶためだけのもの

でなく、内容が自分にとってとても教訓になる内容です。

英語の勉強するためだけなく、スピーチ内容に共鳴や共感を

得ることができる英語に出会たことが、私にとって本当の

英語の実力を得る手段としてとても役立ちました。

私が共感を得た英語のスピーチは、ラリースミスの

「あなたに夢の仕事ができない理由」というスピーチでした。

社会人の方であれば、自分の仕事に悩んだり、また大きな目

で本当に今の仕事がいいのか？という大きな悩みにぶち当たり

ます。このスピーチを聞くと、その悩みに対して、ラリースミス

の考え方を明解に伝えていて、心がスーと軽くなる感じ

もしました。

そこで今回は、私がおすすめするラリー・スミス氏の

英語トークを紹介して、英語教材の選び方について紹介して

みたいと思います。

ラリースミスのTEDトークの内容は

There are great jobs and great careers

and then there are the high workload

high-stress, bloodsucking, soul-destroying”Well, great careers are really and truly

kinds of jobs, and practically nothing in

between.

So people looking for good jobs are

going to fail.

I want to talk about those looking for

great jobs, great careers, and why you are

going to fail.

First reason is that no matter how many

times people tell you,

“If you want a great career, you have to pursue your

passion,you have to pursue your dreams, you have to

pursue the greatest fascination in your life,

your hear it again and again ad then you decide not

to do it.

You are afraid if you look for your passion and don’t find it,

you’ll feel like you’re an idiot, so then you make excuses

about why you’re not going to look for your passion.

We’re going to go through your creativity in thinking

of excuses not to do what you really need to do

if you want to have a great carer.

So, for example, one of your great excuses is:

“Well great careers are really and truly, for most people,

just a matter of luck.

SO I’m going to stand around, I’m going to try to be

lucky, and if i’m lucky, I’ll have a great career.

If not, I’ll have a good career.”

But a good career is a impossibility, so that’s not going

to work.

Now, you see, if this was 1950, being completely competent–

that would have given you a great career.

But guess what?

This is almost 2012, and saying to the world, “I am totally,

completely competent,”is damning yourself with the faintest

of praise.

And then, of course, another excuse:

“Well, I would do this, I would do this, but, but

well, after all , I’m not weird.

Everybody knows that people who pursue their passions are

somewhat obsessive. A little strange.

You’re afraid if you look for your passion don’t find it,

you’ll feel like you’re an idiot, so then you make excuses

about why you’re not going to look for your passion.

We’re  going to go through a whole long list–

your creativity in thinking of excuses not to

do what you really need to do if you want to have a

great career.

I have a friend, proposed to his sweetie.

He was an economically rational person.

He said to his sweetie ,”Let us marry.

Let us merge our interests.”

After he got over his surprise at being,

you know, turned down, he concluded he’d had a narrow

escape form marrying an irrational person.

Although, he did make an note to himself that

the next time he proposed, it was perhaps not necessary

to enumerate all of the women

he had auditioned for the part.

But the point stands. You must look for alternatives

so that you find your destiny or are you afraid of the

word “destiny”?

Does the word”destiny” scare you?

That’s what we’re talking about.

And if you don’t fin the highest expression of

your talent, if you settle for “interesting”

what the hell ever that means,

do you know what will happen at the end of your

long life?

Your friends and family will be gathered in the

cemetery, and there beside your gravesite

will be a tombstone, and inscribed on that tombstone

it will say, “Here lies a distinguished engineer, who invented

Velcro.”

But what that tombstone should have said, in an alternative lifetime,

what it should have said it was your highest expression of talent,

was “Here lies the last Nobel Laureate in Physics, who formulated

the Grand Unified Field Theory and demonstrated the

practicality of warp drive.”

私も、大学を出た時はいわゆる

英語の初級者でしたが、社会人になったいい教材に

出会い、短期間でTOEICスコアで９００点を突破

することができました。そこで私の経験から英語の

初級者、中級者から抜け出せる英語教材について

紹介してみたいと思います。

英語教材選びで大事なことは

英語の初級者にとってよく勘違いされがちなのは

留学すれば、英語が喋れるようになるとか、英会話学校

で英語ができるようになると勘違いしていることです。

聞き流し教材の宣伝では「CDを聞くだけで英語が話せるようになる」、

「聞き続けたら、ある日突然英語がわかるようになった」など

といったキャッチコピーが多くみられますが、英語初級者にとって

はこれは、ただ単に雑音にしかなりません。なぜならば、聞くための

準備ができていないからです。

大事なことは、上で述べたように、自分が興味をもっていること

あるいは悩みに思っていることを題材にして答えてくれている英語教材

を選ぶことです。そうすることによって、内容を知りたいという

本来の興味とともに、語学力が伸びるのです。

よく英語を勉強するために海外留学することが一番の

近道であるという意見を聞きます。

しかし、これも聞き流しの勉強と同じことが言えます。

ベースができていないのに、いくらネイティブの英語を

聞いても、ただ雑音を聞いていることにすぎないです。

大事なことは、自分が英語を理解しようと思うテーマに

であることであると思います。

TEDトークがまだ聞けない方にとっての教材

TEDトークはある程度の英語の基礎がないと、

難しいかもしれません。

英語の基礎を理解していなければ語学学校での授業も

そこで、基礎を勉強するのに評判のよい英語教材とは、

日本人の弱点である部分を克服してくれる教材です。

日本人にとって苦手なのが、英語のヒアリングと

スピーキングです。

私もそうでしたが、英語を読むことは、学校を卒業

した方であれば、そこそこできますが、ただこれでは
